He won!

Ryan's second basketball game of the season was ended in a win 27-25.  Ryan ended up being a great rebounder holding tight when others tried to knock the basketball lose.  He attempted his first few shots in a game this time, missing, but taking good shots that were close enough to possibly make.  The whole game was back and forth as they would score and then the other team would.  We were down 2 points going into the last 2 minutes of the game, but our boys pulled it off in the end.  Pics to come.  Such a great experience.  Aunt Jen, Uncle John, and the cousins were there to help cheer on the team.  GO BULLS!!!

Been too long

So what have I left out in over 2yrs. Well Paul and I both graduated :) I got my first job in Tennessee, then had to leave because of Paul's first job on the eastern seaboard. Instead of teaching 8th grade math and Algebra I, this year I am teaching 7th grade math. I started grad school and hope to graduate in May this year. Paul is hard at work on his own master's. He got a job at a great company and has reunited with family as his sister, brother-in-law, and their three kids live only an hour away. His mom has moved in with us from all the way in Las Vegas, NV. Happy to be close to family. Paul Jr has a great baseball talent and started doing a travel baseball league here this past fall. He should pick it up again in Spring or Fall this year. He is a very excited third grader and has decided to start his own paracord business. I'll definitely be updating on that. Ryan just started basketball. He loves playing and turns out is pretty darn good. Very fast and also tall and big for a kid his age, so he's got an advantage there. The child is in love with science. EmmaLynn, or Squirrel, started ballet this fall and has her first recital in June. She is a fast growing, attitude having, little firecracker. She doesn't take anything from those brothers and is extremely loving and sweet. She is very excited to start Kindergarten this fall :( Baby girl is growing up so fast. The boys are both on a new robotics team at school, the Jr. First Lego League. I coach Ryan's team, and Paul is with a different coach because of age groups. So far they love their new school and cannot stop collecting "spirit sticks" to show their pride. The Christmas/Yule holiday was a good one, though we definitely missed our Tennessee family, Nana, Papa, Aunties, and Uncle Erich. Santa brought RockBand this year and we've been jamming out as a family thinking of them. On a positive note, we did get to spend the holiday with Paul's sister and the kids all had such a great, magical Christmas Eve as we observed some traditions like painting sugar cookies, watching Polar Express, and tracking Santa on the Santa Tracker through the internet. As I see 2013 roll in, I have decided one of my new resolutions to be this blog. Keeping it updated often with plenty of stories and pictures so all our family can feel as though we never left....digital hugs included.

December already, what!?!

Well wrapping up the insane school semester anyday now. Carrying 22hrs and working 16 was not my idea of fun, but APSU has a funny sense of humor that way. All my Praxis scores are in and I passed :) Yay, me. I have found that I now hate math maybe as much as my new students will only b/c it's been crammed down my throat so much, haha, but I'm sure I'll gain that affection back soon. For now, Math and I are on a break. And I'm sure these kids are ready to have their Mommy back.

Oh and my job you may ask, well I get to tutor little kids on reading. And when I'm not doing that, I shelve books at the Public Library in the Children's section. This has proven to give me good experience for both the older and younger kids. The younger kids b/c well I tutor them one-on-one, and the older kids b/c I get to chase them out of the youth section when they are whooping and hollering at each other. Great practice for my Middle School classroom next semester ;)

Big Paul

Got that internship back in August and is still working at the Peay. Emma Lynn is starting a new daycare there and he's gonna be working right across the street from her. He's still looking for jobs anywhere they are posted, keeping our options open, though we are heavily leaning towards NC. The beach, the mountains, museums, history right at our fingertips, oh yeah, it's the place to be. Though TX still isn't out of the question. But he never stops thinking about the future and is about to apply to Master's programs for the fall.

The kids

Paul Jr is reading very well now. He has lost 3 teeth total and this last one has brought him heartache in the means of teasing on the bus. Poor baby. But he has become obsessed with Pillow Pets lately and guess what present he got for Christmas, yup. He loves the 49ers and now the TX Longhorns and needs apparel to match.

Ryan is our usual little trouble maker. Oh, I hope he puts his curiosity to good use as he gets older. Right now he's into dinosaur books and hugs. He hugs anybody around.

Emma Lynn is a little firecracker, but is finally sleeping in her own room and doesn't get up in the middle of the night. Thank goodness. She is so sweet with her manners and loves her dolls. She's excited about her new school.

It's been a while

Well it sure has been a while since I've gotten on here. I said from the beginning no promises :) Who to start with first?

Paul- Since he's the head of our family, is still working on paperwork for the intership this fall. He'll be helping with the GIS aspect of a criminal justice class.

Me- Well summer school just ended and I got 2 out of 2 "A's" yippee! Also I just found out I passed my first Praxis test. The Praxis test is a series of 3 tests for future middle school teachers. All these tests put together equal a teaching license, well passing test scores and a degree equal a teaching license. I take my next one on Saturday and my last (and hardest) one on September 18th.

Paul Jr- Has lost 2 teeth! One week after another, he lost both his bottom front teeth. Good thing, too, as he already had his permanent teeth waiting in a row behind his baby ones. The tooth fairy brought $2 for each tooth and even brought dollar bills for his first tooth. Now he has 2 more loose teeth, front and center. Hoping he doesn't lose them before we get family photos done.

Ryan- Has also lost his first tooth, the day right after Paul Jr did. Seems like everything around here is a competition, hahaha.

Emma Lynn- Has potty trained! She practically did it herself with very little help from us. She also started talking. Two weeks ago Paul decided she had outgrown her crib so we decided to put her mattress on the floor rather than wasting money on a toddler bed. She is doing great and sleeps in her own bed during naps and mostly in her own bed at night. We hope to get her a toddler bed very soon.

The Ring Ceremony

Okay well Amanda and Michael's ring ceremony was on the 6th. Everyone had a great time. Emma Lynn was a flower girl and Jr was the ring bearer. They both did such a great job. Emma walked with me down the aisle and never screamed or cried. She was so well behaved especially for an almost 2yr old.

Paul Jr was such a big boy and stood quietly during the whole ceremony in front of everyone. I was so proud. Ryan decided that he didn't want to be a "ring burier" so he sat quietly with our good family friend, Dave.

The ceremony was emotional. Amanda and Michael exchanged vows and rings. They also made a unity candle with different colored wax crystals. Michael had blue and Amanda had yellow. When they poured the wax crystals into a new jar, it made a candle with both him and her represented. It was so sweet.

Afterwards, they had the reception. Emma Lynn finally let go of my hand at that point in the night and had fun chasing around another little girl about the same age. The boys were obsessed with the air hockey table and of course the candy bar that Amanda had set up. Jr must have had a 1000 skittles!

Last weekend

Wow, can't believe it's Saturday again. Told you all I'd have a hard time keeping it up. So here's the scoop for last weekend.

It was gorgeous outside all weekend. On Saturday we made a trip out to Nana and Papa's house. With Ryan's asthma in hiding til fall and a double dose of Zyrtec for both boys, they did great. Nana has 4 baby Pomeranians and they are so cute. Thank goodness Ryan isn't allergic because he absolutely loved them and would not stop picking them up and petting them. He was very gentle and even sang them a song so they could sleep. Emma Lynn didn't exactly know how to pet nice and squeezed one and it barked. Poor thing. They are about 3-4weeks old so still so very little. She enjoyed watching them all roll around in their box though.

Outside, Auntie Marisa had left a snowman from the previous few days of snow. Yes warm outside and a snowman. Papa and the boys took turns dismembering the snowman and having a snowball fight and racing around the yard. Ryan was amazed at the bunny and the chickens. Papa even let the boys have a piece of bread each to feed the chickens and watch them go wild. Emma Lynn didn't know what to think about that. She was pretty standoffish but pointed and talked about them from a distance. Nana bought a tiny slide when Jr was a baby and Emma Lynn had so much fun on it.

Sunday was another great day. Thanks to my wonderful sister Amanda, I was able to substitute for Ryan's primary class at church. The kids were so great and said such sweet prayers. I love watching Paul Jr and Ryan interact with the other kids during Primary. Jr is so smart and he is always volunteering. He did opening prayer for the whole class. They love the games and have so much fun singing.

After we got home, Daddy was outside washing the car, so he washed my truck as well. Such a great surprise! Of course Jr and Ryan wanted to help. Emma Lynn just wanted outside and I got a chance to clean with noone making messes. So all around it was a great time. It was so warm out that I put the boys in shorts and Emma Lynn in a dress. Really missing that weather this weekend.

The sun has come out again!

Well the past two weeks have been riddled with snow and missed days of school, harsh weather has kept us all confined indoors. But for the first time in months, the weather was beautiful. High 60s, not a cloud in the sky, no wind to make things brisk, just nice weather and the kids and I took advantage of it. The boys took turns on each getting 10hits of my underhand baseball pitching. Paul Jr always hits one over my head or far out in the field. Ryan is just now getting the hang of the hitter's stance and is making contact a lot.

We also kept things lively with some soccer. Emma Lynn used an old volleyball as her soccer ball which she threw in the air repeatedly. Anyone who tried to come near got yelled at because she wasn't gonna give that ball up without a fight.

After our much needed outdoors time, we all came inside to read library books. We got through about 7 and then it was time for dinner. Coraline was the featured Friday movie for movie night at our house. That movie was kind of creepy though so I hope the boys sleep well tonight. We started the movie late and the boys didn't get to bed until 10pm, but they were fast asleep when they hit their pillows. Peaceful in the house tonight.
