Well the reality of deployment has hit us hard. I've been fighting off the depression that comes with being separated from someone that is superiorly awesome. Appetite is crappy along with my mood. Sleep is either too much or none. And the kids have also got it. So today in an attempt to slough off the hopelessness and sadness, I've created routines. No more will we sit in front of screen (computer, tv, or otherwise) from the time we get home to the time we go to bed. There will be time for snuggling and book reading together as well as family dinners minus 1.
Overall, I think the change in my attitude today really uplifted us all. I'm hoping to keep this contagious movement going and just maybe I can get the kids in a better emotional state especially Ryan. Next step is making sure that the kids have built in email time to daddy each day.
On a side note: I hate how creaky the house is when he's gone. And my thermostat is clearly broken, it's either on fire in here or it's a freezer. Geez.
I'm starting this blog for B family: Paul, Heidi, Paul Jr, Ryan, and Squirrel. I want a way to share all our special events/milestones, big changes, and even bigger dreams with friends and family. I also want a way to reflect on how far we've come and where we are going. I'm not great at keeping up with things, but I'm gonna give this a shot.

My how time flies
Well things have certainly changed for us over the last few years. Squirrel is now in 1st grade, Ryan is finally in a gifted program for math, and PBJ is blooming into such a multifaceted young man. I've been teaching at my current school going on 3 years now. Finally my tenure year. While the man of the house has taken a job that requires much sacrifice for the good of our country with constant deployments.
This is the start of our 2nd deployment. The first one felt like it came and went very quickly. This one is just dragging on. I can't lie, I am a bit depressed. The holidays are coming up and I feel as though I have little outlets to just complain to others who live this lifestyle. But negatives aside, I have great friends and close family that are lifting me up and they try. I was almost moved to tears earlier this week when some coworkers, well friends, of mine had brought in a homemade dinner for me to take home. Little things like that make leaving my job super hard. Well the idea of leaving my job anyways. I think there are always greener pastures until you get to the other side of the proverbial fence.
Teaching middle school was never what I thought I would want to do with my life, yet here I am and it feels perfect. I do love what I do as well as care about all the students. Constraints with budgeting and this county's terrible management style does make my job feel impossible at times. So I do tell the husband every once in a while when I think I can't take anymore that I want to go to another school. But the kids and my coworkers keep me there.
